These must-have earbuds are the perfect pick for any user, casual or hardcore.

Reading time 2 minutes

Put the Beats Powerbeats Pro 2 in during a workout, and they read your heart rate from inside your ear, no chest strap or watch involved. Sensors in each bud pulse more than 100 times per second, and the numbers land in the Health app on an iPhone or in the Beats app on Android. The earhooks are made from a nickel-titanium alloy that bends and returns to shape, and Beats tested the fit across 1,500 hours on athletes with different ear shapes. An IPX4 rating covers sweat, rain, and snow. This deal is for the jet black pair.

Head over to Amazon to get the Beats Powerbeats Pro 2 for just $200, down from their usual price of $250. That’s a discount of $50 and 20% off.

Earbuds you’ll love using from the gym to your daily walks

The Powerbeats Pro 2 have a custom acoustic platform tuned for balance rather than the heavy low end older Beats products were known for. Personalized Spatial Audio uses dynamic head tracking to place the audio around you and keep it anchored when you turn your head. Active Noise Canceling is new to the Powerbeats line, and it was designed to eliminate the unwanted ambient noise present in most gyms. Transparency mode turns ANC back on so you can hear your surroundings while running.

Battery lasts up to 10 hours per earbud, falling to approximately 8 hours when noise canceling is in use. Total battery life comes to 45 hours, with the case supplying another 35 hours on top of what the earbuds hold. Fast Fuel provides 90 minutes of listening time after a five-minute charge. The new case is 33 percent smaller than the one provided with the original Powerbeats Pro. It also includes the first Qi wireless charging from Beats, so you can either set the case on an appropriate pad or connect it with a USB-C cable.

Each earbud has a multi-function b button that plays and pauses on one press, skips forward on two, and skips back on three. Press and hold to move between noise canceling, Transparency, and Adaptive EQ. A tactile volume rocker sits on each bud, and optical sensors pause your music when you pull a bud out and start it again when you put it back.

There are three microphones and a voice accelerometer in each earbud that make the call happen, with Voice Isolation using a machine-learning process to eliminate background noise when you talk. Apple’s H2 chip does all this processing, and it works on both operating systems. For iOS users, there is one-touch pairing, automatic switching, Audio Sharing, hands-free Siri, and Find My. For Android users, the Beats app gives you one-touch pairing, heart rate monitoring, custom control options, and battery widget functionality.

The Beats Powerbeats Pro 2 are selling for $200, down from $250. If you want heart rate data during a lift or a run without strapping something else to your body, and earbuds that stay put while you do it, this is the pair built around that.
